How One American Newspaper Has Framed Religious Extremism
Since 1851, the New York Times sure does love to hate on Muslims and ignore Christian nationalist extremists
Yesterday’s newsletter asked readers to ponder how many radicalized Christian Nationalist extremists have kill lists. Please read and share it if you missed it.
Today, I’ve done a search of specific words in the history of the New York Times. I’m going to leave these search terms and parameters here without comment today. Readers can interpret them however they do.
The New York Times used the following phrases to describe religion:
radical islamist, radical islamic, radical muslim, islamic extremist, muslim extremist - 3,971 articles; 412 date from before 11 September 2001 (back to 1851); 3,559 date from after 11 September 2001
radical christian, radical evangelical, christian extremist, evangelical extremist, christian nationalist extremist - 53 articles; 23 date from before 11 September 2001 (back to 1851); 10 date from 2012 to present day
since 1851, “religious extremist” occurred 84 times; only 8 of those mentions were in the context of US christian religious extremism.
I promised not to comment on the above statistics. So I erased a rant and hope you’ll join me for the following events this week. (Please rant in the comments! I’m here for it!)
Please share this newsletter with others who may be interested in these upcoming events.

Corporate media will not do this work, as I’ve demonstrated today with one major corporate outlet. Independent voices matter. We’re willing to say what the billionaires don’t want reported.

The NY Times has become irrelevant, at best. It is the Susan Collins of legacy media.
Why they do not call the shooters and haters at reproductive health clinics Christian terrorists is beyond me. Why are they not calling this douche who did two home invasions and murdered a Minnesota legislator a Christian terrorist. That is EXACTLY what they are.
Islam took some bad PR hits because they covered for and ignored the terrorists who were flaunting their religious beliefs as justification for their terrorist mindset; Christianity has the same problem today. They are covering for them and trying to look the other way while they commit heinous crimes in the name of Jesus. The shit is hitting the fan and all Christians are getting sprayed, rightfully so.
Christian Sharia Law is next y'all. What do you think they'll call that?
