We need to talk about Project 2025.
Mainstream media outlets trumpet big statements about Project 2025. From The NY Times: “Sweeping Raids and Mass Deportations: Inside Trump’s 2025 Immigration Plans.” From The Atlantic: “Trump Will Abandon NATO.” From The LA Times: “Conservative Groups Draw Up Plans to Dismantle the US Government and Replace It With Trump’s Vision.”
Americans should be frightened of Republican plans outlined throughout almost 1,000 pages of Project 2025. It will turn the United States into a fascist theocracy with negative implications for every American.
So why aren’t more Americans upset? Why isn’t the mainstream media dissecting this totalitarian manifesto all day, every day? Why do half of polled voters still pledge fealty to Donald Trump and Republicans in 2024?
Elite media reporting fails to grasp the one thing most American voters and non-voters care about most: “How will Project 2025 affect ME?”
Because let’s face it. Most Americans don’t care whether we remain a NATO member. If asked to explain what NATO is, many Americans on the street wouldn’t be able to answer.
If they’re not an immigrant, many Americans don’t think about people who may be rounded up and deported. Ditto being pregnant in an abortion ban state. Or being a member of another marginalized community.
So many Americans dismiss what’s already destroyed our freedoms by shrugging and saying, “But those things haven’t impacted ME. My life hasn’t changed. Except my grocery and gas bills sure have, and I’m pissed about that. I need somebody to blame. Voila! The President is the easiest villain!”
We aim to educate Americans about Project 2025 by framing it differently. How will each stated objective impact YOUR life, YOUR families, YOUR jobs, YOUR communities?
