What gave me HOPE this week?
I completed this knitting project for my man. Many f-bombs were dropped in the making of this sweater…and I still finished. Knitting is proof that we can do amazing things - like defeat fascism - if we never, ever, ever give up.
Yarn = Biscotte merino from Quebec (I love this company and highly recommend their yarns to any yarn addicts here.)
Pattern = Brigade by Todd Goeken at Ravelry (with several modifications by me)
I love the sweater. Makes me want to take up knitting.
I am in Chicago right now. There have been thousands here in daily protests against ICE and the Chicago Police who have illegally helped them, which is against our state law. My governor spoke up for Sanctuary in Congress, and his courage running a Blue State gives me hope.
Also, I had training by Indivisible last night to be safer in the No Kings rallies tomorrow. I wrote a piece that is mostly links to the be safe and know your rights information they provided. Here it is. https://lindaweide.substack.com/p/indivisible-training-recommendations?r=f0qfn
Knowing that there are No Kings, or No Dictators, or No Fascists, or No Tyrants actions planned in all 50 states and around the world tomorrow makes me feel hopeful.
I also read that the military debacle might have to be canceled tomorrow because there may be a thunderstorm. Let the rain gods do their thing.
Cool sweater. Nod to a Ukrainian flag? Nice job! As for what gave me hope? People dancing in the streets in LA gave me hope. This gave me the June Osborne vibe of "Don't let the bastards grind you down."
