Called both my republican senators that dream of higher office and tell me how very Christian they are with every brochure I have ever gotten from them when running for office. I have no illusions/real hope about these two guys doing the right thing (vote).
Murkowski, maybe. Rand Paul, perhaps. Josh Hawley complained about Medicaid cuts due to his Missouri constituency, but I am not confident he'll do the right thing. Hawley doesn't live in Missouri. He and his family live full-time in Vienna, VA. I read that he uses his sister's address in Missouri. Who knew!
He's my "representative" and is a Trump toady. He'll do anything Trump says. He's useless. So is Burlison. Our state and federal legislators are almost 100% MAGA. The hypocrisy in this area is astounding and sickening.
This bill completes the soft coup. Game. Set. Match. For sure the partisan SCOTUS will uphold most of it, if not all of it.
What I worry about are the unintended consequences as people wake up in the aftermath. In this space, the only thing I would suggest is that it's going to get ugly. If I'm wrong, the docile lambs will make Margret Atwood's writings look like a failure of imagination.
The 6 Supremes are part of the soft coup. They'll uphold it.
And yes, average Americans are not prepared for what's ahead. So many are still checked out or in denial. Or telling themselves this is a swing to the right, and things will swing back because they always do, as they boil like lobsters in a pot.
And Chuck Schumer and his enablers 100% own this. Caving to let this pass with 51 votes was a betrayal of everyone who did not vote for this.

It still doesn't hurt to call (and get as many people as you can to call.)
I've called our Senators. They are both Democrats so I can't imagine they'll vote for this shameful bill.
Republicans can pass the bill with 51 votes. Due to the Reconciliation process they don't need a 2/3 majority.
I know. And I'm not sure they'll be able to peel off 4 Republican senators.

And Susan Collins will most likely ignore her “concerns” and vote for it. (Is she even aware of what a joke she and her “concerns” are?)

I am sorry you have to put up with Hawley. It's unfortunate. He's an educated man. He could know better if he put in the effort.
