I would like to see states pushing for legislation that says they can just take care of themselves and people will then just pay state taxes, maybe some minimal token of federal taxes for services. Switzerland does this. People mainly pay taxes to their states, which then take care of everything. People feel this is heartless to the red states, but if we can salvage some places, people can escape if they need to from the Red States.

All Trump cares about funding are 3 things:

1) billionaires

2) the military

3) ICE

If states pay then states have the say. Each state can decide for themselves if they want to fund health care, housing, transportation, poverty funds, education, have gun control, allow churches to be tax free, protect the environment, allow abortion, whether they support immigrants and how they want to manage their immigrant populations. States rights and no taxation without representation.

Our states have the GDPs that are often as much or greater than similar sized countries that manage to supply their people with health care, education, pensions, housing, roads, bridges, transportation etc...

It also gives a state a chance to practice economics that are not just for the wealthy but for everyone. I think we should demand that our politicians draft a bill to propose this.

I agree with this approach. Also, a fascist government and red states will never allow this to happen without bloodshed. Because they understand that blue states are funding them, and they're not going to relinquish that without a fight.

But again, I agree with this. I think the United States as it exists is too big and diverse to stay one nation. I'm all for figuring out how to carve it up into something democratic and free that be a beacon and a shelter for humanity going forward.

My hope is to submit bill and hear Republicans make a case for taxing people. They will then be talking out of both sides of their mouths, never expecting this to come from Democrats.

I think many Americans don’t grasp how many taxes they really pay, because Republicans have turned things covered by taxes in other countries into profit centers for billionaires. They also really excel at throwing some paltry amount of up-front money at people who don’t understand economics or the time value of money to distract them from what they’re taking. It seems they have an endless pit of these strategies.

So yes, Democrats are going to have to force them into that corner.

They have to do this, but I see democrats pushing back at it. It is amazing to me the number of people who are holding on to old ideas when it is a new day, with new realities. I feel overwhelmed with my own summer tasks to take on shopping this idea around. It has set people, who have tried to dismiss it, but not cogently. Every argument is based on the status quo that has been blown up by a government that is not based on the US Constitution. They are rapidly dismantling it. Time for something new.

It was good to hear you mention about people being able to open your phone using your face, but law enforcement doesn’t need permission to use your fingerprint either. However they cannot get you to tell them your passcode since you have the right to remain silent.

I recently realized why crypto currency has become one of maga's new toys. It is the "thoughts and prayers" of finance. Does it even exist? Is it in the room here with us now? : )

Billionaires want no regulations or controls on money. They want a Wild West situation, which is why they love crypto. Its entire point is to exist beyond government regulation and oversight.

I get all of that -- but how do stupid people get to be so rich in the first place? Do they become billionaires by starting out with two billion? To me, crypto seems like the ultimate ponzi scheme. Every "smart" financier can explain how it is supposed to work, but does it actually exist? Even trump felt that it was an idiot's quest until he realized how to profit from the fools who wanted to fork over their real money for some magic beans from him. Even the Mob keeps two or three sets of books to be able to see how they're doing. How does that same mob suddenly decide to trust their wealth to the whims of computer nerds and a world that they understand nota' whiff? : )

Many inherit their wealth. I had the misfortune of being around some of these people in one of my husband's jobs. They actually consider themselves to be nobility and call average Americans "common" and "the common people." (I had to stop going to anything related to this with my husband, because I got so tired of being called "common" to my face.) When I say they want a New Feudalism, I'm not kidding.

But I have digressed from your other point. Ha.

I personally believe crypto is a Ponzi scheme and have never invested in it. But then, I also believe Amazon is a similar type of scheme, and someday we're going to find out that its owner stole billions from just about everyone.

LOL. Be proud of our "commonness!" I always enjoy being able to hang with the useful idiots of wealth but being able to actually make the things they depend on others to make for them (good food, art, adventure, survival; yikes, just realized that my wife loves me for me and not my money, lol).

Trying to wrap my head around the logistics. Does this mean people who are desperate for work will succumb to working as ice agents? Is this how that worked in other authoritarian regimes? They make this the only job available?

Thank you so much for all you do. I’ve been so worried about CN for a decade but live on the sinful and godless west coast making it hard to convince people it’s happening.
